For the love of quilt-making and the fellowship of quilters
2025 Row by Row Quilt Along
Welcome to the 2025 row by row sew along Brunswick Quilters.
Let’s make a row by row quilt together!
The quilt is made up of 9 different blocks in the public domain, each 6 inch block ( finished) will be made eight times to make up ONE row. One row will be made each month for nine months then we will finish on the 10th month.
Each block can be found online with accompanying video’s on how to make each block by each of the designers.
We are using blocks from the Moda “blockhead” sew alongs and each month we will make one row.
The blocks we will be using are listed below by url and are in the order we will be making them.
Our goal will be to HAVE FUN sewing along together. You pick the colors YOU like, you can make it as a baby quilt with less rows, a Veteran quilt in reds ,whites and blues, or a nice throw for yourself. You decide how many rows you wish to make using your scraps.
I will be showing all the blocks in red, white, and blue and my sashing will be gold.
Each month the new block will be demonstrated at the monthly meeting.
The quilt with all the borders measures 64 x 86 inches. This is designed to use your scraps.
The sashing looks best in one fabric and for that you will need 3 yards, a solid or a print that reads as a solid will help pull all the scrappy colors together.
The sashing between each row will measure 2.5 by 48.5 inches ( 2 inches wide when sewn into the quilt), the side sashing ( depending on how many rows you do.) will measure 2.5 x 72 inches, cut two one for each side.
After the 1st border there is a border of flying geese, if you choose to add the geese we will be making them every month as we go along using the scraps from the blocks to make a total of 134 geese that measure 2.5″ by 4.5″ unfinished (which is 2 “X 4″ in the quilt) ( if you make 15 each month it doesn’t seem like so many ) The border on the outside of the flying geese is( 2) at 2.5″ X 64″ and (2) a 2.5 ” X 86″ inches….cut these AFTER your quilt is completed so you can double check your personal measurements. The final border can be made as wide as you like.
This picture is for reference so you can visualize how the quilt will come together. The pictured blocks will NOT be the blocks we are using in our row by row but the sashing and flying geese will be the same.
