Carolina Cardinals is the name of our raffle quilt for this year.  The drawing will be held on May 23, 2010 at our Quilt Show in Southport, NC.  For inormation about our Quilt Show go to www.qib.brunswickquilters.com

Our  Theme for 2010 is "Working With Your Stash".   Programs and workshops will be designed with this in mind.  Don't forget about our Opportunity Quilt.  You get a chance put in the jar every time you attend a Brunswick Quilters function.  The winner will be selected at our annual Christmas Luncheon.   This is for our members only.

History

Brunswick Quilters began  in 1997 as a club with the Education and Community Association of Brunswick County which was affiliated with the Cooperative Extension Services of North Carolina with Eleanor Hoff as it's leader.  The club had between 5 to 12 active members at that time.   In 2002 Brunswick Quilters became an independent group.  Since that time it has grown to over 80 members.

Purpose

Brunswick Quilters was started for the love of quilt-making and the fellowship of quilters.  Our main purpose as a non-profit group is to promote and  perpetuate the art of quilting.  The work of the Guild is designed to benefit and educate all persons interested in preserving, continuing, and advancing this art while providing service to the community. The Guild shall encourage a high standard of design and technique in all forms of quilting.

  What We're About

We are involved in many charitable projects through out the year.  Comfort Quilts for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department, quilts for the Boys and Girls Home in Lake Waccamaw, Newborn quilts for Brunswick Hospital, Walker bags for area nursing homes and senior centers and Wounded Soldier quilts for soldiers wounded in the ongoing war.  Our members are generous with their time and talents.

Our regular meetings are the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM.  We have a variety of planned workshops and activities for our members.  The second Tuesday of the month is our Business Meeting.  Any and all pertinent information is given to the general membership at this time.  We have a Block of the Month Lottery, Fat Quarter Drawing and other surprise drawings at this meeting.  After the business meeting, there is usually a demo or short workshop.  There is Show and Tell which is always a treat and then lunch.  We are all invited to stay after lunch and work together on group or individual projects.  This is a time when we can get that needed advice or help on some problem we have encountered.  The talent in this group is awesome and everyone is so willing to share their talents with one another.

On the fourth Tuesday there is usually a planned program that takes up the entire meeting.  But if there is no program, we gather for open sewing and fellowship.
