Orphan Block Basket
From Block to Basket
Take any block you have — any size. Cut a piece of fabric for the lining and a piece of batting to match the size of your block. Put block and lining right sides together with batting underneath. Sew a 1/4” seam around all sides, leaving a small opening to turn the block rightsides out. Turn rightsides out, press flat, and top stitch around all sides. This will close the hole you left open for turning. Do some light quilting to hold all layers together. Fold in half. One one side, mark a dot 1-1/2” in from the fold. Mark another dot 2” down along fold from top. Draw line from dot to dot (it will look like a dart). Sew along line. Repeat for other side. Fold in half the opposite way and repeat above for both sides. Fold corners down, and tack or sew a button on. Enjoy!
