BQ Business Meeting      September 9, 2008

President Wanda Williams welcomed Bonnie Hunter and thanked her for the wonderful workshop yesterday.  Wanda announced that LaVerne Thomas is still at Autumn Care making progress.  Cindy Long is going in for breast surgery.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Quilt Show has been delayed until 2010.  Lois Snavely and Shirley Zimmerman have offered to co-chair but need a third that lives locally. LucyMarie Timmermann will chair the raffle quilt.  A volunteer is needed to handle the raffle tickets.  Wanda asked members to consider some form of fundraiser for the years in between quilt shoes and asked members to please put suggestions in the box.

The Retreat is full and payment is due today.

Members had voted earlier to make quilts for the Victory Junction camp: four twin-size in primary colored children’s fabric.  Anne and Wanda will procure the fabric and kits will be made up for members.

It is time to assemble a nominating committee.  Marji Carano, Becky Klass and Cleo Lawrence will handle this.

WE had a new member join today.  We are glad to welcome Laura Leonard.  Visitors Pam Pardue, Kathi Culler, Frances Covington, Judy Slater, Barbara McGowan, Nancy Lewis, Ann Marie Frazier, Irene Henderson, Linda Schillaci, Marie Laska, Julie Graham and Marilyn Gregory were with us today.

Julia Larsen shared her monthly joke with us and gave the Treasurers report.  .  Librarian Julia also reported that about two dozen books are out still out somewhere and asked all of us to double check the list that she has posted in the back to see if these can be returned.

Eleanor Hoff reported that she has 38 completed Comfort Quilts.

Schoolhouse Day will be September 23rd.  Please sign up to allow instructors to prepare for the correct amount of attendees.

Sally Robinson won blocks of the month.

Show and Tell was great with  Cleo Lawrence, Jean Marshall, Mary Lou Prescott, Julia Larsen, Louisa Jordan, Marjorie Carano, Nancy Heck, Donna Lockwood, Linda Schillaci, Joyce DeLucia and Wanda Williams showing us their lovely projects.

There will be a quilt show at Brunswick Plantation on October 11th.  Admission is free.

Joyce reminded members to pay fees and commitment fees as we sign up to avoid confusion.  It was suggested that personal checks be used for fees so that our names would be obvious with payment.  At our October 14th meeting Cleo Lawrence will be guiding us to make a reversible table runner.  Sign up and pay the $5.00 commitment fee (which will be refunded) and a $2.00 pattern fee.  October 28th will be a PMS day.  That is Pizza, Munchies and Soda.  Bring your UfOs and stuff for the Second hand Rose table.  Wanda will demonstrate the book cover.

On November 11th, LucyMarie will show us how to create a table runner from our blocks of the month.  Joyce finished by telling members that she is trying to get Judy Lilli to do a class on Landscape quilts for the second November meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Karen Harding
