President Wanda Williams called the meeting to order. She told members that it had been suggested that the drawings take place prior to lunch rather than earlier. The members agreed.
Julia Larsen gave the treasurer’s report. The quarterly report will be posted on the board in the back if anyone wishes to look at it. As Librarian, she thanked those members who had donated books and magazines to our library. The library closet will be open after the business meeting.
V.P. Anne Pendred reminded members that, as she was taking care of Sunshine, members keep her informed of any illness among members.
Linda Swanson reported 36 members in attendance today.
Joyce De Lucia reminded members to sign up for the classes on April 22: Julia Larsen will be teaching how to construct a layered pincushion and Donna Lockwood will be teaching a bead embellishment project. The $5.00 Commitment Fee will be refunded when you attend the class. There will be a kit needed for Donna’s class. The cost of the kit will be $5.00 to be paid the day of the class.
On May 13th, Lucymarie will be doing a class on using our own blocks of the month to construct a table runner. Joyce reminded us to sign up for the Pepper Cory class that is to take place on June 9th. At a cost to members of $25.00 ($30.00) for non-members The “border and binding” class on June 24th is cost free, but members will be required to put down the Commitment Fee.
She gave a brief history of charm quilts and had handouts for all present.
Eleanor Hoff reminded members that our next Comfort Quilt Day would be May 27th.
Julia reminded members that any measurements of 7/8 on the blocks of the month should be rounded up to the whole number to avoid undersized blocks.
It was a great Show and Tell. Members showed a plethora of Dresden plates that they had finished since taking the class, some lovely comfort quilts, some delightful boxes, cute craft aprons for children and a glorious multi-colored jacket. Such talented members we have!!!
Sally Robinson won the Block of the Month. Cleo Lawrence won the 50/50. Margie Carano won the educational drawing and Ann Pendred won the fat Quarters.
