BQ Business Meeting August 12,2008
Vice President Anne Pendred opened the meeting.
The secretary reported that we had received fliers for a retreat in Southport in September. Fliers will be placed on the sign in table for those who may be interested.
Julia Larsen, Treasurer, reported a balance of $10,278.53. As out librarian, she reported that the card system for the library did not seem to be working as well as was hoped. Many books are unaccounted for and she asks that we all check and see if we have anything to return.
Anne reports that the retreat plans are moving along very nicely. She
reported to members t our show be delayed until May of 2010. This would be
contingent upon a chairperson volunteering to handle the project. Lois Snavely offered
to be a co-chairman if a member who was closer to Shallotte would be willing to
help. Shirley Zimmermann also volunteered. A third chair that lives closer
would be a plus. Hopefully, someone will think it over and volunteer to help
these
two. Julia Larsen volunteered to handle Publicity for the show and Ruth Wilding offered to assist. Joyce De Lucia volunteered to chair registration and Karen Harding will assist. Lucymarie Timmermann volunteered to chair for the Raffle Quilt. The suggestion was made to check with the Armory as the preferred location. Committee sign up sheets will be on the sign in table.
Eleanor Hoff reminded members that the next meeting on August 26th would be Comfort Quilt day. Please bring sewing machines. There are many quilt tops to be finished.
Joyce De Lucia reminded members of the September programs, Bonnie Hunter and School House Days. More information on these will be sent out later. She reminded all 9to check out the Second Hand Rose tables.
Show and Tell was great with members Marjorie Carano, Ruth Wilding, Rosemary Toedter, Shirley Zimmermann, Sally Johnson Anne Pendred and Luciemarie Timmermann sharing their lovely pieces with us.
Julia Larsen shared her "Joke of the Month" with all for a good laugh.
Rosemary Toedter won the fat quarter drawing. Karen Harding won the 50/50 drawing. Susan Boyd won the Block of the Month.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted, Karen Harding
